SDMLC collects and donates eyeglasses to the SD Lions Optometric Vision Clinic. During the month of December, the lions and community volunteers collected a record-breaking amount of eyewear for others in our community.  Over 960 pairs of clear glasses, 88 pairs of sunglasses, 492 cases, 551 pairs of lenses, and 2117 pairs of brand-new contact lenses were collected. In addition, the community members also donated 4 hearing aids, 4 cell phones, hearing aid batteries, one rechargeable LED eyeglass headband/bracelet, an eyeglass magnifier, and a blood pressure monitor cuff/equipment. This overall collection and donation will serve some 4208 members of our community who will now be able to receive discounted or free eyeglasses/contacts/lenses to extend their vision needs. Finally, the other miscellaneous items of hearing aids, batteries, cell phones, and more will be disseminated to others who can recycle these products to help take care of the environment and or those in need of hearing aids.  Thank you everyone for working together to help provided extended and low-cost vision to others in our community.
