Ernest Fagan Jr is a native of Brooklyn New York and a retired Navy Supply officer who served from 1987-2007. Specializing in Acquisition and procurement, Ernest served on two navy ships (USS OKINAWA LPH-3 and USS FREDERICK LST-1184) and various staff commands in San Diego, Fort Belvoir, VA, Dayton, OH, Pearl Harbor, HI, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ernest provided logistics and material support to Naval Air Station North Island, the Defense Contract Management Agency, the Naval Special Warfare Command, and the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command.
After his military retirement, Ernest joined the federal workforce as a contracting specialist at the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command. Concurrently, he taught undergraduate business classes at the University of Phoenix, fulfilling a lifelong desire to teach. In 2010, he moved to his current position at the Defense Acquisition University as a Professor of Contract Management, training government civilians and military personnel to work as contracting specialists, procurement technicians, and purchasing agents. Ernest also achieved advanced certifications in federal contracting as a Certified Professional and Certified Federal Contracts Manager.
Ernest joined the San Diego Miramar Lions Club (SDMLC) in 2021 and currently serves as the Club Marketing Communications Chairperson. He holds a B.B.A from Baruch College in New York City, an M.B.A. from the University of Redlands, and a GCPM from Keller Graduate School. Ernest is married to the former Sherilyn Vries of Bloemfontein, South Africa, and has a son Ernest III, a daughter Haley Renee, and three wonderful grandchildren.
