The PRIDE of the San Diego Miramar Lions Club hit the streets in the Miramar/Mira Mesa area of town, and performed an April community “sweep” up and down Camino Ruiz during early morning hours on a beautiful Saturday morning. This street is traveled heavily connecting Miramar Road with the community of Mira Mesa, and is used frequently by our exercising youth groups.

On hand to help keep our environment clean were local community volunteers, children, and SDMLC Lions who picked up a great deal of trash on this busy street in the neighborhood. In just over an hour, we found some interesting items left on the street that included a commercial-sized printer cartridge still in its new box, a large ladies handbag, a tattered bank check, part of a bike tire, shards of glass, a single tennis shoe, a horrific number of cigarette butts, fast food wrappers, and so much more. During this project, these volunteers filled nine large trash bags.

Thank you to everyone who participated in keeping our neighborhood clean and safe. It was great “ROARING” with all of you. Let’s keep up this effort to save our environment one small step at a time.
