Lions gathered at the Multicultural Center in Spring Valley, CA on September 17, 2022, to extend the gift of VISION. Arriving early to set up all the vision equipment, chairs, tables, and sorted glasses, lion PRIDES joined in fellowship readying for the expected crowds that were already lining up outside the building at 715am in the morning. The families, the kids, the friends, and the neighborhoods came out in large numbers to receive free vision screening, and, if needed, pick up a pair of glasses. Lions were assigned to work at examination stations or at the eight-foot-high cabinet with glasses that had been cleaned, sorted, and carefully tucked away by prescription for fast and easy access in drawer after drawer. Other lions acted as guides to seating, while others ran errands as needed or fulfilled sign-up duties at the door. A quick cup of coffee, a shared donut, and the doors suddenly opened with a big “gush” of patients waiting to be seen. Lions quickly took to their assigned stations and the gift of VISION was available to all. Leaders from all over California were also present to support VISION DAY, shaking hands, and rooting the lion teams on in their respective workspaces throughout the building. It was one of the most rewarding events for the San Diego Miramar Lions Clubs this year. Thank you Lion PRIDES for letting us share in extending the gift of vision to our local communities.
