On October 12, 2019, the newly established San Diego Miramar Lions Club (SDMLC) completed their first inaugural event as a club at San Diego City Maddox Park. This environmental “Bow-Wow” project involved the deep cleaning of the dog park and supplying fresh water sources for our furry friends. Community citizens joined the Lions as 23 people came together in the “wee hours” to fill a number of holes, rake leaves, twigs, scat, and flying fur, and perform a general clean-up of the area. A few community members stood on the sidelines cheering the team on giving us renewed energy to fill 13 thirty nine gallon bags of trash. The park was transformed into a spotless park for everyone to enjoy.
After our two hour event, there were plenty of donuts and coffee, provided by the SDMLC Lions, for all present to share, enjoy, and learn more about the Lions overall goals – ENVIRONMENT, HUNGER, DIABETES, VISION, and CHILDHOOD CANCER. We had the chance to meet a number of friendly faces, receive community praise, and talk about our next event in November – packing food items for those in need at the San Diego Food Bank on November 26, 2019.
We will see you at the 2nd annual event next year?
Thank you everyone for your dedication and support to contribute to our community-we hope you’ll consider joining the Lions Club!
