The COVID-19 pandemic that started in 2020 has effected every community and the businesses within them. To say the least, this past year has been a challenging time for small business to remain open. Many small “mom and pop” shops hoped for loans to stay open, some having to downsize their business, and some, unfortunately, shutting their doors forever.
When the San Diego Miramar Lions Club heard of a well established, neighborhood business of 35+ years, letting their entire staff go, members of the SDMLC Pride went into action. Ann’s Alterations & Tailoring/Dry Cleaning Services on Miramar Road was hit with a website services bill in January 2021 that would be several hundred dollars. Looking for someone to help ease their costs of operating, the SDLMC Lions jumped in to help them with a search for a website company that would be able to maintain their website services and security for a lower, discounted cost until their business made a customer comeback. We found that expert inside our very own PRIDE.
With a little bit of back-channeled SDMLC Board of Director administration and communication, Lion Vince Patron, a long time Lion and overall computer expert in every way, jumped in to save the day. He immediately volunteered to help review the current site for their alteration and dry cleaning business, After his review, he offered to take control of their account, install upgraded security to their website, ensure cookie tracking was in place, and maintain the business website without a monthly fee of any kind. At this point, I want our reading audience to know that Lion Vince works full time at the management level so he is busy, busy, busy. This special Lion spent hours on the project reviewing, transferring certificates, obtaining licenses, and whatever else needed to be done. His timely response even saved them their January fees that were ready to be billed to their credit card. Our very own Lion Vince demonstrated to this neighborhood how important it is to help others, and be engaged with community in any way possible.
Lion Vince, you have a heart of gold and our utmost thanks for saving this small shop from a gigantic bill (and potential door closure) when customer engagement has plummeted for this business. The site is now fully active and up. Take a peek if you are looking for alteration services in this neighborhood.
