Stand Down 2022, Part 1 of 2: This event is for homeless veterans, veterans at risk of homelessness, or unemployed veterans who need just a little bit more. The 2022 San Diego Stand Down, sponsored by the Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD), occurs in two (2) parts. The first part is the collection, donation, and sorting of all the donated items to be given to our homeless veterans attending the 2022 Stand Down San Diego. The San Diego Miramar Lions Club helped complete PART 1 of the Stand Down 2022 by collecting, sorting, bagging, and donating nominated items of clothing, shoes, and jackets in preparation for the July 2022 event. The drive-through event took place on June 10, 2022, in downtown San Diego at the Veterans Village of San Diego back parking lot. VVSD Drive-Thru Clothing Drive 2022, Part I began on June 10, 2022, from 7:00 am-3:00 pm on June 10, 4141 Pacific Highway San Diego, CA 92110. The San Diego Miramar Lions Club PRIDE collected, sorted, counted, and donated 19 bags of the most requested items that included the following: Underwear (Men’s & Women’s) Shoes/Tennis Shoes, Sweatpants, T-Shirts, outerwear, jeans, sweatshirts, and hoodies. In attendance, Lion volunteers included Lion Jaymond, Lion Betty, and Lion Liz of SDMLC Pride. Clothing pick-up and organization took place on June 8-9, and the sorted donations were delivered to the VVSD team on June 10th. Now our PRIDE volunteers await Stand-Down 2022, Part 2 of the VVSD Stand Down 2022 which will occur over three (3) days in July. We encourage everyone to volunteer at this most worthwhile event!
