Each year, on Memorial Day Weekend, the Ft. Rosecrans Cemetery, honors our fallen military men and women by requesting volunteers to aid in placing a flag at the headstone of each member laid to rest there. Located in beautiful Pt. Loma and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, there are 112, 000 of America’s finest buried there. An annual project adopted and supported by the San Diego Miramar Lions Club PRIDE, we invited Lions from a number of clubs to come and help us place flags for the military at Ft. Rosecrans. On Saturday, May 28th, we gathered together as Lions, as veterans, as friends, and as a family to honor all the fallen veterans who gave their last full measure of devotion and earned their final resting place. Starting at 0800 hours when the sun just started to show itself, we gathered in fellowship, collected our flags, and began our project of honor at Ft. Rosecrans. In attendance with SD Miramar Lions Club were lions from SD Majestic Lions Club, SD TFC Lions Club, SD Rancho Bernardo Lions Club, SD United Lions Club, San Diego Forever Lions Club, and a number of our local community friends.  San Diego and Imperial Counties District 4L6 Leadership in attendance included Lion Jay Ruiz, Sr, Special Assistant to the District Governor-Elect Jay Ruiz, Jr., and Lion Leo Williams, 2nd Vice District Governor-Elect – FY 2022-2023.   This Memorial Day we all joined together – In Gratitude.
