During the month of February, the Lions from San Diego Miramar and the Rancho Bernardo Lions Club collected glasses from all over the County of San Diego coming up with hundreds of wonderful glasses for repurposing back to the communities in need.  These glasses are then cleaned, sanitized, and “refurbished” with new prescriptions for patients of the clinic.  The eye glasses are offered at a discount rate, or, at no/zero cost, for those that qualify under the Optometric Vision Clinic program.  This month, we were able to donate 669 pairs of eyeglasses, 93pairs of sunglasses, and 112 eyeglass cases.  Special thanks to Costco Optical throughout San Diego, JC Penney’s Carlsbad, La Jolla Presbyterian Church, San Diego County Library in University City, Ann’s Tailor and Alterations on Miramar, and many local citizens who contributed from their homes.  Good work everyone collecting 762 pairs of glasses for our Lion Optometric Vision Clinic!
There are sunglasses, clear prescription glasses, reading glasses, and or just an eyecase at discounted costs – and then, there is the top-notch, friendly service provided by the Vision Clinic staff.  If you know of someone in need of vision care and or eyeglasses, but who may be on a limited budget, have them “check-out” the Lions Optometric Vision Clinic.  The San Diego Lions Optometric Vision Clinic is located near Balboa Park downtown.  Thank you Lions for all of your hard work this month with this “JUMBO” sized donation.
