During the month of December, our Lions International President, Douglas X. Alexander, invited Lions around the world to join in the efforts to welcome Afghan allies into our communities and provide whatever support/services to help them rebuild their lives here in America. Many of you expressed your desire to help embrace this challenge as a number of Afghanistan citizens are now living in San Diego, and requested warm clothing as the weather begins to turn colder and the rains begin. On December 16th, the Lions of the SDMLC gathered 30 winter jackets and coats, pants, and a number of winter shoes to help those Afghan allies, who had minimal items in their possession as they fled their homeland. As the SDMLC President, I was humbled and grateful that our PRIDE pulled together quickly to support this historic opportunity to help our Afghan allies find warmth during the winter, in the new place they now call home
