During the month of November, we recognize and honor our military service members and their families. By donating to the Armed Services YMCA of San Diego, the San Diego Miramar Lions Club can help to enhance the lives of military families through programs addressing the unique challenges of military life, deployments, injury, and more. The San Diego Armed Services YMCA assist over 170,000 San Diego based active-duty military service members and their families with several no-cost or low-cost programs, services, and special events. Four of the main areas of support include services for the wounded, family and youth, Horse of the Sun Ranch, and a variety of special events throughout the year. This organization provides quality programs to meet the needs of military service members and their families. They are committed to strengthening military families, supporting healthy lifestyles, reducing isolation resulting from deployments/travel, and assisting in connecting these military families to their community. Focus area includes assisting with the wounded, injured & ill with programs and services for hospitalized and or outpatient care at Naval Medical Center SD. AS YMCA provides neighborhood food distribution twice a month. Their Horse of the Sun Ranch program provides an array of equestrian and respite activities to aid healing the spirits of military families and at-risk youth.
