During the month of October, Lions District 4L6, in conjunction with Lions Clubs from around the County, participated in the week-long Binational Health Week located in downtown San Diego at the Mexican Consulate located in Little Italy. Binational Health Week (BHW), brings together the U.S. and Canadian consular networks of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia for a week-long series of health promotion and health education activities and events. BHW includes health outreach and education workshops, and health fairs that provide insurance referrals, medical screenings, and other essential health services. Opening day brought the local media out in force to cover the story, and a myriad of Lions Clubs came out to “ROAR” in lion fellowship the rest of the week. Special Lion thanks to Lion Jay Ruiz, Sr., of the San Diego TFC Lions Club who not only loaned out the Vision Trailer but helped with early set-up in downtown San Diego prior to the event kick-off.
