The SDMLC PRIDE was contacted by the Principal of a local elementary school during the month of February to discuss the possibility of aiding a elementary school student with a vision check-up and free, new glasses. In coordination with the school, class teacher, parents, and the minor, the SDMLC was able to help provide a vision check-up and eye care at no cost. During these coordinated actions and events over the course of almost two months, it was learned that an established voucher certificate program for eye care was available and has been used by the San Marcos Lions Club. After further coordination with the San Marcos President, the child received assistance via the “free voucher” program and was aided by yet another club to close out this request during March 2023. SDMLC was able to “answer the call” in an efficient and expeditious manner. Thank you everyone for your coordination and delivery efforts! ROARING as a coordinated team. Yay!
