Each month, the SDMLC and partnering lions clubs donate eye glasses, sunglasses, cases, and more to the “vision mission” at the San Diego Lions Optometric Vision Clinic. This month, there was an emergency request for cleaning supplies, disinfectant, paper towels, hand towels, spray, and more in order for the clinic to continue their work with patients in a safe and sanitary environment. In just two days, the San Diego Miramar Lions Club PRIDE stepped up quickly to fulfill this emergency request. Receiving the notice that the vision clinic was running dangerously close to possibly closing due to a shortage of funding, cleaning/sanitizing supplies, and more, the SDMLC did a quick trip to the local Costco. There, they were able to find the needed (and requested) dispenser hand towels, Pine Sol in bulk, Lysol disinfecting spray, Clorox disinfectant wipes, paper towels for general cleaning/drying, and more. Speaking with Enrique, Operations Manager, San Diego Lions Optometric Clinic, they were extremely happy for the emergency supply fill, and overjoyed with the donated quantities. The Pride ROARED with delight at hearing the news from Enrique, and ever grateful that we were able to help the vision clinic expeditiously in their greatest time of need under an emergency-fill request. By the way, a shout out on behalf of the Lion Vision Clinic – they are accepting donations and everything helps – big or small – and cleaning/sanitizing supplies for the building/patients.
The SDMLC PRIDE also teamed with five lions from the San Diego Rancho Bernardo Lions Club, and gathered 326 eye glasses, 46 sunglasses, 13 empty eyeglass cases, and glass cleaning cloths to add to the donation this month. We started off the first week of August with a GIGANTIC ROAR and a Lion BANG. Thank you everyone for your efforts and all the donations. We are overjoyed to help, in some small way, provide the gift of vision to our community. Keep donating those glasses!!!
