On May 8, 2021, the San Diego Miramar Lions Club joined five additional Lions Club (Miramar, TFC, Encinitas, United, and Executive) volunteering at the 4L6 Lions Volunteer Day at the San Diego Food Bank. Located in the vicinity of Marine Corp Air Station (MCAS) Miramar area, multiple PRIDES came together to volunteer their time and hearts for others. Together, they worked a 2hr shift packing some 9518lbs of fruit (apples) and vegetables for distribution to those in need around our local community.
Fulfilling the needs of families who are challenged obtaining sufficient groceries/food during the continuing COVID-19 pandemic is a critical function when many are not employed, and cannot pay for rent, utilities, food – basic survival becomes difficult. It is the efforts of Lions everyone who do their very best to take away some of the daily stress for these individuals via the distribution of food packages.
