Melvin Jones, the founder of the Lions Club, has an annual award that was created in his name – the Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) Award. The MJF is the backbone of the Foundation. The MJF Award is normally announced and presented once annually to those lions who donate $1000 USD or more to LCIF. These donations are a tremendous contribution to humanity and the legacy of its founder, Melvin Jones. Lions of the SDMLC PRIDE attended the January 2022 luncheon honoring contributors to LCIF in amounts at and over $1000. The taco/enchilada luncheon was held from 11:00am until 1:45pm and recognized approximately 20+ award recipients. The SDMLC Pride had two MJ award recipients: President Lion Liz Yoe received a MJ progressive diamond pin award, and 2nd VDG Lion Julio DeGuzman receiving his first MJ plaque award at the luncheon.
